Chapter 6 started, Word count at 16 300.
The words kept flowing quite nicely tonight (considering I started to write less than an hour ago). I suppose that writing from a male point of view is easier. The character and me share some common points (no Marie Sue here, I assure you, I’m not a cold blooded killer) ; This was quite satisfying.
While on the bus tonight, I reflected that in order for me to have a first act ending that worked, I missed something. So, I edited some of the first chapters to add a few hints. Fun how my story’s needs come to me right now and force me to improve on what I have already written (And I can hear distinctly someone crying LUXURY here!). I hope that those hints were subtle : I’m aiming at a feeling like ‘you know it’s there, but you won’t think about it until after I mention it’. I also realized that while I was thinking that I only had a couple chapters left before the act’s end, in fact, I may have two to three more before that. Good!
I re-listened this week’s podcast. Yes, I’ll have to try subtelty with Onmk, otherwise, it would feel like “someone punched the reader in the face” as they said. Point taken.
Next week’s podcast seems to be about drama. Good, I’ll need that only at the end of the book (in around two months then). For once, I get to listen to their advice BEFORE I write!
That’s all for tonight.
