I’ve been resting for a few days now, trying to do some thinking.
First, I’ve listened to some lectures about creative writing. I got some thoughts out of it. First feeling here is dread – one of the lectures described rewrites as litteral rewritings of the book. It’s difficult enough having to come up with 100k words, but I have to spit out twice or thrice that? Sounds like writing two or three books. Maybe my rewrites do not work that well up until now because I’m unwilling to remove large chunks of what I’ve written. Up until now, at least.
Next, they described a couple of things about outlines (I should definitely fleshen mine) and ways to define your characters better by answering like 30 questions about them.
Next, I’ve added something to my outline. Not much, granted, mostly what I already had in my head, but I still had to lay that on “paper”.
Done some thinking also. I know how the second act starts, but beyond the first chapter, mystery!
